Our principal´s word

Welcome to have a look at our upper secondary school, its people, activities and events. Our school is located in Mäntyharju, which is a municipality with some 7000 inhabitants in south-eastern Finland. Mäntyharju is renowned for its scenic beauty, versatile culture and friendly people.

Our school is quite small. The number of students aged 16 to 18 is about 160 and there are fifteen teachers. We provide general upper secondary education without focusing on any single subject. The individual interests, skills and abilities are given due recognition by allowing the students to choose specialization paths. In co-operation with various educational institutions, organizations and other partners we can offer a remarkable range of opportunities. The students can choose their own paths from the course tray and include as many as twenty special courses in their study programs.

Specialization paths are:
  • music
  • visual arts
  • drama
  • film and media
  • sports and physical exercise
We have had friendship relationships with schools in Sweden, Denmark and Estonia. At present we are starting an EU-funded program with a school in Italy, and it is our aim to expand co-operation elsewhere in Central Europe too. Also, a friendship contact with a Russian school is being established. Currently, our curriculum offers English, German and Russian, but students can study other languages with the means of distance and web-based learning
